No it doesn't echo every character if you are using the right init string.

COM/IP Init String to fix ECHO prob and download prob.
June 11, 2002.
If you are using COM/IP ... add this init string to EVERY node in COM/IP, and
then in FD use ATZ| .. took me a MONTH to figure this out.
PL> So... I'll ask again. Does anybody have FD running via telnet, inbound
PL> and outbound, with it passing to the BBS without flaw for BBS callers,
Yes, ME! Telnet over and SEE!

I've been running FD since my BBS first went up in 1993. Never ONCE had a
problem with it. Under OS/2 with VMODEM and SIO was the best to use (cause
you could use the FD /TERM (best terminal in the world!) for outbound telnet
calls, but COM/IP makes you add [port ###] after each telnet address which is
a pain in the a$$. That's why I use MTEL now for outbound telnet calls (for
me) ... but all I have to do is edit my FDNODE.CTL to reflect the ones I call
out to.
ie:
PHONE 1:379/1 #harborwebs.com[60177]
PHONE 25:25/2 #dls.darktech.org[60177]
PHONE 25:25/4 #crazyworldbbs.no-ip.com[60177]
DIAL
1-724-
# Internet ;IP translate numbers starting with '#'
0000- Internet/:155 ;IP translate numbers starting with 0000-
V Internet# ;IP translate numbers starting with 'V'
END
Now with SIO I would just have say #ttb.slyip.com 23 ... but COM/IP needs the
[] brackets and RIGHT NEXT to the address or it will not send outbound.
COM/IP is really weird for this. Boy, I miss OS/2. Maybe I'll go buy an
upgrade copy of eComStation. ;)
PL> I would -LOVE- to poll, shed light on what I need to do for the
PL> outbound, and I -WILL-... you would make my year.
Edit your FDNODE.CTL in your \FD\NODELIST director to reflect above
PHONE 1:129/305 #ttb.slyip.com[23]
Add that to your FDNODE.CTL file and run FDNC to compile it in and you SHOULD
be able to poll me without a problem.
Telnet over and I could help more probably. ;)
