Hmm.. not sure what version Ubuntu uses, I'd have to check.  I've got a
pretty old version on this system, I think it's 4.3 or something very old
like that.

I picked up the latest version of Rar this evening but I'll test it first
and see if something like you describe happens.  If it seems to work ok,
then I'll hatch it out.
