Will do.

JP> Are the two TPs seeing much use ? They were nice machines for

The Library is getting a redesign makeover. So, the laptops have not been
placed. They need good (permanent) AC power cord placement so I can't plan
for a spot now. But this gives me more time to configure the
"policies" to prevent people from messing around with the system
apps and files. I'll probably park the 2nd TP in the library for sure.
The first TP has a really dim screen now.

JP> I am still hesitating on the Thrive ! I went

 JP> either can/can not do. ;-)

The best thing you could do is get a chance to play with it before you buy.
At the same time, take the Blackberry Playbook for a test flight too.

As you might remember, I purchased a used 2nd generation 8GB iPod Touch a
few months ago. It's a fine player. I really like the slick animated
screen-touch user interface. The overall design is nicely thought out:
thin, curved corners, solid feel. But I dislike being forced to use iTunes
if I *just* want to delete a podcast or a tune immediately. I had
considered the Archos 32 model, but by then I had already upped my bid on
eBay for the iPod (before discovering the Archos) and I won the auction.
Later, I also learned that the Archos device featured 3G tethering via
bluetooth; that would have been wonderful for me to be able to use my
existing 3G turbo stick from the laptop that connects with 3G.

The Touch is my first experience with a sort of mini-tablet. I like the
convenience of using wi-fi to check for mail, weather, and the occasional
site. But the 3.5" screen size is way too small for regular surfing
and typing. I've also maxed the 8GB storage capacity pretty quicky. It's
a great device for playing tunes, but I also like to gather podcasts for
later listening as well. 8GB is not cutting it for me unless I purge the
device often (which I can't always do when I don't have iTunes handy on a
PC!). A 16GB device would work better, but then I think I would seriously
consider the 16GB Archos 43; it has a microSD slot for extra storage.
