| subject: | New Apple OS.. |
Alan Zisman -> All said the following on 8/8/2011 12:50 PM: AZ> This week's column: New Apple OS aims to leverage iPad AZ> technology - http://www.zisman.ca/Articles/2011/biv1137.html >> OS X 10.7 (Lion).. Priced at $29.. users with multiple Macs only have to buy it once; it can be downloaded free for installation onto additional systems.<< Attractive price. But what is the cost of a base Mac box for someone who wanted to make the move? I see that an existing 10.6 is a minimum requirement. The new Apple commercials that show how easy it is to share videos from a Apple device to TV intrigue me. For now, I convert my iTunes video/downloads to AVI so that I can watch them on my full-size tv. I suppose that an Apple/Mac investment would make this experience more seamless. But the added hardware costs could be prohibitive for someone currently embracing the Windows path. If I had my druthers.. I'd druther look for a linux-based solution. PS.. TED used to provide PC compatible/shareable versions of their downloads. But all the videos are now mp4 only. I need to convert them to AVI(DivX) for my standalone DVD/DVR player. That's so tediuous and time consuming. --- Thunderbird 2.0.0.24 (Windows/20100228)* Origin: Fidonet Via Newsreader - http://www.easternstar.info (1:123/789.0) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 550 620 848 @PATH: 123/789 500 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
