I've been reading about the LECs sunsetting POTS lines in 2014, and it saddens me.I ran my BBS for years on an analog line, using analog lines as data transport for everything from dial-up internet to point-to-point networks and everything in between, and much prefer the quality/reception of analog lines. Unfortunately most "land-lines" brought in my cable providers are just a VOIP bridge running into your lines. If the power goes out, so does your dialtone. My Comcast phone service doesn't even go through the network interface; they just plugged a phone line from the cable modem to an available phone jack. --- MultiMail/Win32 v0.49 --- SBBSecho 2.12-Win32* Origin: realitycheckBBS | http://www.realitycheckbbs.org (1:218/700) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 550 620 848 @PATH: 218/700 10/1 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
