Reasonable strategy in my opinion - that way, you could access them in a digital
camera or notebook with an SD slot.

My point (which August was querying) is that - in a device with enough
space, which a phone generally isn't - a standard sized SD slot is a better
option than a MicroSD slot, since it allows the use of both sized memory
cards.
