AA>A little dated (3 years ago), but still interesting: AA>Eric Giler wants to untangle our wired lives with cable-free electric power. AA>Harald Haas: Wireless data from every light bulb. AA>Harald Haas demonstrates, for the first time, a device that could do exactly AA>that. AA>http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/harald_haas_wireless_data_from_every_light AA>b.html August, Long ago, at a local Amateur Radio meeting I heard some folks talk about one of them driving their car up a hill and parking it so the front of the car was faceing the streets down below where another 'Ham' lived. The Ham up the hill had connected a Microphone, that used a Carbon Element, to the cars headlights and spoke into the mike with the headlights turned on. The Ham that lived down below the hill used a telescope that had a photo-cell attached to the eyepiece, and the photo-cell was connected to a audio amplifiers audio input jack, and He was able to hear what was spoken by the guy up on the hill on a loudspeaker connected to the audio amplifier. I believe the experiment took place a little after World War 2 when there was a lot of U.S. Military Surplus electronic gear available. * SLMR 2.1a #T348 * And now a word from the NULL Device. --- SBBSecho 2.12-Linux* Origin: telnet & http://cco.ath.cx - Dial-Up: 502-875-8938 (1:2320/105.1) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 550 620 848 @PATH: 2320/105 0/0 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
