Actually, this is the cart before the horse. OS/2 Warp 4.0 wasn't modified
so that it only works with its "own" version of Windows. OS/2 Warp 4.0 is
the same as OS/2 Warp 3.0 was in this respect.
It is Windows that has always had to be modified to work under OS/2 (because
of DPMI server conflicts and suchlike). The "with Windows" flavours of OS/2
contain a full installation of the Windows kernel, with the modifications
already applied. The "without Windows" flavours of OS/2 contains just those
parts necessary to change an existing copy of the Windows kernel so that it
runs on OS/2.
