Hello Michael!

20 Aug 04 06:44, you wrote to Steven Horn:

and not part of Fidonet.

Using what I know to be Fidonet, I can see and use the DNS info you
publish, I cannot see and use Scotts aliases, I cant see or find any of
these aliases Scott has setup published anywhere.

Using the telnet client, connecting to you on port 24554, once each with
each DNS, I see no difference, I see no field trip to OZ.

Your understanding of DNS is flawed, sorry but it is.

Oh, one more thing, we have seen talk of ddos attacks, port scans...

A.

First, you are more than likely to get port scanned from fellow users
within your own isp.

B.

Unless you have made enemies, you are not very likely to fall victim to a ddos.

C.

Your systems presence on the internet has nothing to do with whether or not
you run servers, are in Fido and other FTN networks, if you feel vulnerable
then unplug your RJ45 cable from your systems, turn them off. For most
script kiddies and them evil type will find you, not by a DNS name, they
simply will go through IP block after IP block til they find something that
might tempt them.
