PE> Guys, there are some changes happening in echomail. I don't
PE> know what's going to happen, but one of the options is that I
PE> may be calling Brisbane to collect echos.

BL> What's happening?

Dave's closing down his 800 echos and will thus no longer be a hub. The
only person I know for sure has all the international echos is Alywn Smith
in Brisbane.

PE> However, once I start paying for volume (ie timed calls), I
PE> will want to reduce the mail volume to just the stuff I am
PE> interested in.

BL> I thought that's how FIDO worked. Why are you getting stuff you're
BL> not interested in?

If all the sysops only carried what *they* were interested in, there would
be nothing to get! Sysop A might have 20 echos, but B is only interested
in 10 of them, sysop C is only interested in 5 of the ones that B is
getting, etc.

And up till now, it hasn't been an issue, as it doesn't make any difference
to me how much mail I get, it's all for the cost of a local call.

BL> What does that include (besides 4th Reich, Crap
BL> Cooking and Aust_Cripple_Line_Dancing)?

NET_DEV, OS2PROG, MSGED_ECHO are the only intl echos I am interested in.

PE> Can I have a show of hands of how many of you have echos you
PE> can't live without that you'd be willing to pay for (and how
PE> many K/week that is).

BL> ... FX: sits on hands

BL> I've disconnected everything but AVT.

You don't have to disconnect from them NOW! Just be willing to lose them
depending what happens. BFN. Paul.
