      Thanks Lee. I figure there's got to be a way of finding out what a
boat is *really* like. I've heard pretty much the same things you have,
but would like to verify the rumours one way or another... obviously,
there's no point in asking a Hunter dealer nor his competition! It seems
that Hunters are great boats, but only for the first few years. OTOH, I
have seen some smaller, older Hunters (1986) which still seem to be pretty
solid. Maybe what I ought to do is talk to a few surveyors who know about
these boats... but who would know about the newer ones (ca. 1992)?

      I can see what you mean, and have never liked Hunters myself
primarily for that reason (plus the reputation :^), but looking at them
close up, especially with the free standing rig, they do make excellent use
of the interior space, and the deck is fairly clean. Now the cockpit is
something you could take or leave; with the open transem, big pedestle,
and rounded seating areas - I guess it all depends on the sort of usage the
boat will get. All I want to do is liveaboard and cross a few oceans every
now and then... but happily and safely! :^)
     Cheers,
             Augustin~~~===
