| subject: | Borland C++ 2.0 sticker |
PF> $149 x 2 (since you have to buy the dos compiler separately PF> for some reason). Borland's intentions are to go the Watcom-way, everything out of one box. PF> Watcom v10 ($189 cdrom) includes DOS 16/32, Win 16/32, PF> win32s, win nt,OS/2 16/32 and some other esoteric stuff PF> (NLM, AutoCad). Yes, its a good deal, but my only complaint is that I really like the fact that Borland has a classlib that is fairly consistent between Windows and OS/2. Granted there is some criticism about certain aspects not being supported between the two. Having to encapsulate GUI development on different platforms, or take the time to learn a new classlib for each different platform is not an entertaining prospect. The idea behind C++ was that there were reusable components that was supposed to make software development more efficient and this seems to have been captured by the Borland language people, IMHO.
