subject: pouring fluids

Here's a tip I learned years ago and used again tonight:
To pour fluid from one container with a broad mouth to another
with a relatively narrow mouth, hold a nail or other smooth wire
across the top of the source bottle with the index finger, gently
tip-and-pour.
Surface tension holds the fluid to the nail once it leaves the
source. providing that the lower end of the nail is inside the
narrower neck, there'll be no spillage, and no wastage.
