BP> No wonder the bikers with all the latest gear, give me that
BP> strange look when they zoom past me, whilst I'm plotting
BP> along, with my bike looking like one of the taxis used in
BP> Manilla or them busses in the Andes..
I and a couple of friends of mine were out riding in a pace line practicing
for the Hotter'n Hell Hundred. We were cruising along holding an average
speed of 22 or 23 miles an hour which is very fast for us. As we rode down
the road taking turns pulling and sucking wheel, this guy shows up behind us.
As he got closer and closer it was apparent he was going to pass us. As he
went around, he was wearing old sneakers and sweat pants cut off just above
the knee. He was riding an old banana cruiser with the seat way to low and
plastic streamers coming off the handle bar grips. As he pulled around us,
he quipped, "Morn'n fellas." and went on down the road... :-)
Don't worry about what that old bike looks like, just keep doing the miles.
