KU> RK> No! I don't want anyone held as hostages! And I don't HATE the
KU> rich
KU> RK> Envy
KU> RK> perhaps, but the present system is tilted heavily in favor of the
KU> RK> rich. It
KU> RK> should be corrected and they should pay their fair share.
KU>
KU> In what manner do they not pay their fair share. They contribute
KU> a share of taxes that is higher than their numbers,
MS> He doesn't understand economics. The "rich" are already being
MS> ripped off on private health insurance.
You have swallowed so much Republican propaganda that you try to twist
everything anyone says to "rich bashing". This whole thing started because I
insist that the health care system in the US is badly broken and needs
fixing. Why is there a proposition on the ballot in California to make HMO's
more accountable? It was started by the California Nurses Association who
claim that profit is the motive driving HMO's and not patient care. But I
give up. One can't argue against predjudice.
KU> MS> I suppose you have a similar attitude on making the rich pay
KU> their
KU> MS>"fair share" (a higher rate!) for auto insurance, too...rather
KU> than
KU> MS>allowing them to use MSA-style high deductibles on
KU> collision/comprehens
KU> MS>to save on premiums.
KU>
KU> When the rich start having more accidents and cause the insurance
KU> companies to lose more money, then we can get them paying more for
KU> their
KU> insurance. The absolute LAST thing you want is for medical insurance
KU> based
KU> on the model of car insurance where the claims experience is a large
KU> part
KU> of
KU> the equation.
MS> Why not?
MS> The rest of us don't owe a _subsidy_ to those who are (already)
MS> known to be unhealthy at the time they first get a policy...and that's
MS> exactly what charging everyone the same, whether they are a person with
MS> AIDS or not, would be. (It would be like selling fire insurance to
MS> cover a home that already burned)
That's because you don't care about anyone or anything else except
yourself.
... Bigot? Racist? Fundamentalist? Redneck? The Republicans want YOU!
