The TV licence breaches the European Convention of Human Rights, which is
now part of British law, there should be some test cases soon. Clause 10 of
the ECHR reads,

Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include
freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas

without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers. This

article shall not prevent States from requiring the licensing of

broadcasting, television or cinema enterprises.


Clearly I am being deprived of my right to receive information when I am
required to pay for a TV licence to watch German TV via satellite...
