| subject: | How to connect and External USB drive under OS/2 ? |
Hi All,
I have an OS/2 CP2 FP4 system that has 4 x USB 1.1 ports
and I am able to connect either my USB key or USB
connectable camera as Mass Storage Devices and access the
memory in the devices as if they are harddisks - they get a
new drive letter automatically assigned - all working well -
no problems.
I now want to attach an external USB harddisk and I
cannot seem to get it to be recognised as a new drive.
I have the latest USB drivers installed and I have tried
with both Dani drivers and the latest IBM IDE drivers - no
luck !
Could the problem be the fact that the device is a USB 2
device and my system is only USB 1.1 - I think this should
be backwards compatible.
Since the external drive has some USB to EIDE conversion
chips in it, do these need to be supported under OS/2 - ie
is the USB only giving a "path" through to this controller
??
Cheers/2
Ed.
