RS> BTW, I am laughing my head off at the "face on Mars" people
RS> like Richard Hoagland, now that he's been PROVEN to be simply
RS> full of it.
ML> you still can't really say that... we already know that there are
ML> extremely high winds and sandstorms on mars... what's to say that that
ML> area hasn't undergone some extremely damaging weather since viking was
ML> there?
II>
II> TRUE! In fact, a wide-angle picture taken at the same time showed not
II> only wind and blowing sand, but clouds over the area of the "face!"
II> IOW, we STILL do NOT have a good picture of it! So the "proof" STILL
II> has not been obtained! (Shaddup, Ross!) |-/
Oh, it's "proof" all right, proof that PT Barnum understated his point.
ML> there will be no _proof_ until we actually land a man on mars and
ML> detailed inspection of the area is made...
II>
II> RIGHT!!! Hopefully later pictures of the area will clear up the
II> question.
Already "cleared up," except in the minds of those who've bought into
Richard Hoagland's fantasies being spread mostly by his propaganda minister,
Art Goebbels.
II> On the other paw, couldn't that big "splorch" over the "face's" left
II> eye have been caused by a meteor impact at some time after it was
II> built, (assuming for a moment that it was built by someone/thing
II> besides natural planetary dynamics)? But like I said above, there WERE
II> clouds and blowing sand in the area, and the picture WAS taken from a
II> couple of hundred miles up... Besides, _IF_ the face was made by
II> intelligent life, how many aeons has the wind and blowing sand, (and
II> acid rain from previous occupants maybe ), had to erode it? Just
II> look at how badly the Sphynx has eroded over the aeons since IT was
II> carved from blowing sand and rain! :-/
The sphynx is still recognizable.
The "face" on Mars was a screwup based on a poor resolution photo.
