*** Quoting Roy Witt from a message to Carol Shenkenberger ***
CS> Roy, there is much more to it than that.
RW> Nahhh. It's simple, just right the message and send it off.
If you seriously would like to learn about what is involved, I do not mind
¨explaining it, but if you do not want to learn, there's little point in
typing ¨in that information.
Meantime, it's all on hold for a bit while we wait to see what lawrence is
up ¨to. I did however on request, send over 'Z6 as a net' to Z3 on request
with ¨the understanding that Quinn doesnt have answers yet on what Z3 wants
to do. ¨I'll have to do a little research though to see if it matched
their style ¨(noted that to Quinn at the time) as have one static IP in a
phone area which ¨they may want to have shifted.
RW> I think 1:1/23 is available.
Why would I do that? Besides, it doesnt solve anything at all. I'm NOT
alone ¨out here even if the others are nominal and have an obligation to
make sure all ¨the others are ok.
CS> moving over with me will get (hopefully) at least 2 weeks to adapt
CS> before we drop Z6 or reduce it to a placeholder segment.
RW> Or they could join up with Zone 7...
Thats about as stupid as it can get.
CS> Oh I can easily get a nodenumber elsewhere just for myself. No one
CS> would be hard put on if I cropped up in 1:140 net and the funny thing
CS> is I often look like a local dial from his end due to the
CS> shennanigans of DSN witchery. Since my legal residence is in
CS> Virginia Beach, we almost didnt move me at all to a Z6 listing in
CS> those early days and 1:275 would be 'legal with precidents for
CS> Military who move about alot but own a home there and plan to
CS> return'.
RW> Where is that in P4? ;o)
Precident. It's been done many a time in Z1, to preserve nodelisting in a
net ¨when a military person took a temporary transfer yet owned a home.
Not even a ¨blip from the P4 fanatics. Richard Peer even mentioned it long
ago when I was ¨shifting to a Z6 nodenumber, as a valid option.
CS> Ward too said he'd add me in if I needed it being a bit of
CS> a special case and Russell I am sure would be happy to have me.
CS> Renato's probably the only one who'd feel funny about it if I tried
CS> to get him to list me ;-)
RW> List you? Oh, I thought you were talking about them *wanting* you...so
RW> :o)
Grin, I dont think he'd mind at all. He's said so a few times.
See Roy, your situation and mine are radically different. I tend to make
¨friends wherever I go and getting listed someplace if I were in trouble
¨withthat and needed help, would be very very easy. In fact, for an
additional ¨10$ a month, I can get a VOIP number that is inbound dialable
to anyplace in ¨the USA or Canada and you'd be hardput to use P4 to say I
couldnt list in a ¨spot where I had a 'local dial POTS number'.
