G'day folks :)
Been a while since I posted here so greets to anyone I know of and any I've
yet to meet, nice to meet you :)
Just wondering if I could get advice on a problem with my Stereo VCR.
It's been working fine for the last 3 years, but now I find it won't let
me recorded Stereo in Standard Play (SP), but it will quite happily record
it in Long Play (LP) - but there's another problem. Sometimes the VCR can't
decide in which mode the tape was recorded in, constantly switching from
SP to LP to EP and back to SP etc etc. This happens not only with re-used
tapes, but also on brand new tapes. So I took it to a tech who said he
cleaned the unit for me - but it came back with exactly these same faults.
Is it time for a new Stereo VCR, or should I find another technician?
The picture stays stable for a few minutes in both speeds, but then starts
losing it's hold, and tapes recorded in LP on other VCR's also pose a problem
as when played back in the Stereo deck, as I described above, the machine
can't determine which speed it was recorded in.
The deck is a Sharp VC-H91 with a mid-drive mechanism and can play NTSC
tapes on a PAL tv. The other one is also a Sharp, a mono deck but also
with a mid drive mechanism.
If anyone knows what's wrong with this piece of high-technology equipment
o'mine which has spontaneously decided to be a pest, drop us a line, I'd
*really* love to hear from you. :) Oh by the way...I can't seem to get
a full still picture in either SP or LP mode, half of it is chopped off.
Many thanks in advance :)
Cheers,
Frank
