| subject: | Rectifier Bulb? HoHoHo |
JH> Transformer still OK - has 15-0-15 VAC at the secondary. JH> I'll post diagram later. There are two small parts there which are JH> clearly cooked. The bulb think looks to be OK. The secondary side just JH> has those two small parts (now blown), the bulb thing, and a 4000 mfd JH> capacitor. The two small cooked parts are probably the rectifiers. The 4,000 ufd cap helps confirm this and is why the unit would not produce excessive hum. I'd replace the parts with either high current diodes or a bridge assembly, whichever was easiest/cheepest to obtain. (BTW, 15-0-15 seems high for a 12 Volt power supply. This would produce over 21 Volts unloaded.) TTYL. Robert * SLMR 2.1a * Skydiver's chute didn't open.
