No, not really -- it's a place where the ladies could withdraw from the men
(who would often be smoking and drinking -- offensive to "ladies").
"Hermitage", for us at least, has connotations of an isolated (either
physically or spiritually) place where one or more go to retreat from society
and/or for spiritual exploration/evolution.

A "rest room" (or "restroom") is an American (i.e.
USAian) term for a room with
 a toilet. In Canada we use the term "bathroom" to mean a room
with a toilet
which may or may not include a bathtub and/or shower but always has a hand
washing basin.
