I know it won't make any difference to those who KNOW that the US betrayed
its commitments and bugged out of South Vietnam, leaving it at the mercy of
Hanoi's well-armed juggernaut...

"[When Saigon fell in 1975] The United States ... could not retrieve a
vast military treasure chest of arms and ammunition contributed to the ARVN
and now left behind as a gift to the North Vietnamese army. Included in
this martial bounty were 51 F-5A fighters; 22 F-5E fighter-bombers; 113
A-38 attack bombers; 36 A-1 Skyraiders; 40 C-119 Flying Boxcar transports;
10 C-130A Hercules transports; 36 AC-47 gunships; 159 0-1 and 0-2
observation planes; 430 Huey helicopters; 36 CH-47 helicopters; 80 175mm
self-propelled guns; 250 155mm howitzers; 1,000 105mm howitzers; 2,200
M-113 APCs; 300 M48 / A3 tanks; 42,000 trucks; 47,000 M79 grenade
launchers; 63,000 LAWs (Light Antitank Weapons); 15,000 M60 machine guns;
12,000 60mm, 81mm, and 90mm mortars; 791,000 M16 rifles; 857,000 other
small arms; 90,000 .45-caliber pistols; 48,000 radios; 940 ships (most of
which were landing craft or small river warships); and 130,000 tons of
ammunition."
