Even WinXP is not immune from this side effect of Multi-Card Readers.

My Co-Worker has an HP Pavilion a410n, with a built-in 4 port Multi-Card 
reader.  WinXP automatically assigns Drives G:, H:, I:, and J: to this 
Multi-Card reader, even though we have no Media Cards at all in the 
office, let alone in the Reader.

The REAL Down Side here is when I insert my SanDisk Cruiser Mini in the 
USB port, the San Disk is assigned one of the Multi-Card's drives, then 
you have to click on each Drive Letter to find the SanDisk..

That is a Real Pain!!!!
