I have no personal opinion about Hunters and have never sailed on one.
They do, however, seem to give a lot of boat for the money. But, in the
US, I am told, they do not keep their value too well as
they have a reputation, perhaps not deserved, of being built, until
recently at least, not too strongly.
When I was shopping for my boat on the US eastern seaboard, brokers
didn't seem to like them too much. One told me: "The Cadillac of boats
is the Sabre. The Catlina is your Chevrolet. And the Hunter? Well,
let's say it is your Yugo."
His opinion, not necessariy mine, which is that I don't much like their
latest designs where the lines appear to go every which way, giving rise
to a total lack of harmony.
