I just had the reverse problem.  I wanted to dupe a tape that's stereo into
mono.  I finally just threw up my hands and ran it through the RF cable.  I
was going to do it with a Y-adapter on the audio in, but I got lazy.
After having a closer look at the VCR, the left channel makes mono when the
right is open.  It doesn't really matter, the RF cable did well enough
for a rush job.
