Nope I am talking about the "western influences" being if
anything even stronger in the 70'es than now. The crucial diff is that then
as long as you were anti-commie you could be as nasty to your people as you
liked (esp if you had oil). Now it's simply "if you have oil then you
can be as nasty to your population as you like".
