One advntage of four-cycle motors is they use less fuel and produce far
fewer fumes. They also seem to overflow less when starting and so are
kinder to the environment. In fact, there are moves at the moment to ban
the two-cycle enginers within a few years because they are so
environmentally unfriendly. Oh yes, the four-cycle types tend to be
quieter too.
I found Honda service to be quite excellent when I had my 7.5, not that
I really needed it except as a reult of someone's error when I first got
the engine. But may be things have changed in the last few years
although I suspect it depends on your local dealer. I would
unhesitatingly buy another Honda if I needed an outboard although
four-cycle motors are a fair bit heavier than the two-cycle types.
That's a consideration if someone else on the boat isn't as tall or
hasn't as much muscle power when it comes to raising it out ofthe water
or lifting it off the boat.
