Day Brown discussing ""A Philosophy of Chaos"" with David Martorana...
DM>> Would you be suggesting that the God/Creation-factor HAS limits
DM>> BECAUSE She employs compression or simplification techniques
DM>> which would be unnecessary in omnipotent circles ... ? (Of course she
DM>> could use such clever tricks for FUN!) ...yes?
DB> All of that. also, for us to have free will, we must be acting out of
DB> that, and not the will of god... which therefore, is a limit on the
DB> will of God.
DB>
DB> I still wonder sometimes if it is that God herself, suspends the
DB> disbelief so that She does not know what will happen next... so as to
DB> enjoy the show. Or if Chaos, is as represented, truely a random force,
DB> beyond even the will of God. ___
This is similar to David Hume's argument which goes something like this:
Deists claim that god is benevolent and omnipotent.
There is evil in the world.
If evil is gods plan then he is not benevolent.
If evil is not gods plan then he is not omnipotent.
God cannot be both benevolent and omnipotent if evil exists.
