It may be, but it may also not be. Check it with a magnet... some grades of
stainless are slightly magnetic, but you can definitely tell the difference.

You never know. I hate to make anything "unfixable"... you may want to do a
refinish, or sometimes, for a major finish restoration (full rubout), I'll
strip everything except pressed-in hardware.
