BL> make stat() work you have to explicity put BL> timezone = 0; daylight = 0; BL> and then ctime() won't work! BL> I love C. It's such a great language... and so portable, too. FM> Exactly! (grin). The absoultely worst part of C is the way they bend the rules with pointers. After coming back from Pascal, I finally understand that it is not the concept of pointers that is horrific in C, it's their fuckwit conventions. I still can't believe *(void **)a! I've been trying to use the qsort() function to sort a pointer array of strings, and I defy *anyone* to do that successfully. It even gets a mention in the Borland help! file (not that it helps in the least). The *really* funny part is that Gonighan and Richkid use qsort() as an example of pointer arrays, but *their* version of qsort() in the example is different than the real one. Their one makes sense. They ignore the real one, so I guess they couldn't make it work either! BL> You used one too many brackets. FM> He used no brackets and exactly the right number of FM> parentheses. True. Bloody pedant. Regards, Bob ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 @EOT: ---* Origin: Precision Nonsense, Sydney (3:711/934.12) SEEN-BY: 711/934 712/610 @PATH: 711/934 |
