I was thinking that we could continue using our address with the zone even if
the structure of fidonet changed just for the reasons you point out above
although the zones may have a different meaning, maybe simply the part of the
world were you reside.
I don't know if any change to policy will ever come to pass. It would have to
be passed by the RCs although if a reasonable change or amendment was
presented I'm sure they would consider it, and possibly even put it to a fido
wide vote if they thought it was a worthy and doable change.
The hard part is presenting the RCs with something they can work with.
