He called me "late" last night (missed the call), but he followed
it up with 
an Email.  Without publishing his story here in this echo, here's what 
posted in our Region echo:

Phil contacted me by Email & Phone today.  Without disclosing anything
he wouldn't want published, I'll simply say that his absence was
predicated by devastating personal issues and he will be returning as
the NC of Net267.  He isn't sure when he will be returning, and it will
likely be several more weeks, but he will return when he can.  In the
meantime, Robert continues to volunteer as the temporary NC of Net267
until such time as Phil can return.

He is temporarily staying with Greg, and I have the phone number.  I'm not 
sure if his father followed through with that report, but I'm going to call 
Phil later today and we'll talk.  I'm simply going to tell him this hobby 
should be the farthest thing from his mind right now, and that when he can 
come back, we'll keep his place set at the table and the mail will be 
waiting.  I've got about 1 terabyte of storage, so there isn't a chance 
it'll evaporate...
