| subject: | ISA here. |
Hello, Jean. Good day to you, too. I wrote this back on 12/15, but don't think I ever posted it. (busy bee here right now). Sounds like you're now back up north. We're finally chilly here in central FL (low 40's this AM), after about 3 months worth of avg. December rain earlier this week. Progress at our construction sites was badly wounded, with rainouts on Mon and Tue, most of FRI, and trying to dewater excavations, clean up and dry-out in between. Anyway, you responded when you saw what I wrote to RJT about - - JH> Oh, have I missed something? What new mainboard designs have come out JH> in the past 18 months or so which give you a choice of even a _single_ JH> ISA slot? JP> My new one does have ONE ISA and it is populated with my old USR JP> modem. The MoBo is a PLE01 and sports a VIA C3 at 800 MHz. JP> used to be Cyrix, I think. That's well and good, but if you're questioning my "18 months or so" statement, I'll admit I may have been a month or two off, so I'll have to ask during what month of what year did your mainboard design first get introduced to the market? I chose 18 months as approx when the VIA KT133A chipset came out for Athlon/Duron, and I don't recall seeing one of those board designs which has even the single ISA slot. Anyway, I'm RW&A to be shown wrong about the 18 months ago part, but I still think ISA slots are now gone from all new mainboard offerings. NOE~L - - - JimH. ...
