subject: DosSetMem

jl> I have seen only few "real world" examples of
 jl> DosSetMem(). Toolkit samples

 jl> mention of this function.

 jl> So, I have to ask you gurus, if the following example
 jl> is the "right" use of DosSetMem at all:

If your only purpose is to commit pages just before you use them, but never
to decommit any pages once they are commited, there is no reason to use
this function --- OS/2 does this automatically (UNLESS: you have
"MEMMAN=..., COMMIT" in config.sys).

That's right --- even when you say PAG_COMMIT, os/2 does not actually back
it with physical ram/swap space untl you touch the page for the first time.

Where DosSetMem() would come in handy is if you are allocating a very large
object, but only plan on having a few pages committed at any one time.
Hint: use it in an exception handler (OS/2 exception, not C++ exception).
