Hi Guys:

I just received a good condition Compaq model 1750
laptop through a government auction. Unfortunately, 
the RCMP wiped the hard drive. The first partition
of the HD contains part of the BIOS, and of course
it won't boot now.

I've tried a bunch of boot floppies from the HP/Compaq
website (setup, and utility disks), but it read the
floppy for 4 or 4 seconds and then a blank screen.

Anyone ever run into this before and have a fix?

Somehow, I have to recreate the first partition and
load whatever it needs into it.
