What make of disc is it? I have a Maxtor external 80GB USB drive 
attached to my ACP2 system and it is accessible using either the CW USB 
MSD driver or the IBM USB MSD driver. Interestingly, though, only the CW 
driver reports the correct size for the drive - the IBM driver shows 
about 13GB. This affects only my ability to format the drive, BTW, for 
day-to-day use either driver works fine.

My understanding is that the IDE drivers are irrelevant, as it's a USB 
device not IDE. My drive is a USB2 device as well, but for a long time I 
had it connected through a USB1.1 port before I installed a USB2 PCI card.

Does the drive come with its own drivers for Windows systems? If so, it 
probably doesn't conform to the appropriate standard and is unlikely to 
work with OS/2. I would try the CW driver 
(http://www.os2world.com/cdwriting/cwusbmsd/cwusbmsd.htm>) and I think 
there are also some modified USB drivers on Hobbes that might be worth a 
try. Finally, have you tried the USBRES package 
(http://usbapps.netlabs.org>) to see if it can see your drive?

Oh - one other thing... four ports implies two controllers; are both 
controllers enabled and recognized bu OS/2?
