You want both.. but being an active Tech helps especially if your Vet has any
friends at Davis.

Takes a lot of hard work.. grade point average is crucial for admitance to
Davis or most other Vet schools (there in in Oregon I believe but it's
residents only).
Vet teching is a dirty job, and not well paid. *IF* you can make it through
pre-vet and vet teching.. you'll be on your way.
