Apparently they have had an ongoing dispute over taxes.

Peaceful Protesters Pulled from "Public" Property Approximately
20 demonstrators were evicted last Saturday from Crossgates Mall in
Guilderland, New York, a suburb of Albany. The activists walked peacefully
through the mall for about an hour on this crowded shopping Saturday just
before Christmas, wearing signs that read "Don't Bomb Iraq" and
"Try Something Different: Peace on Earth."

They were then approached by police, told their signs were
"offensive" and threatened with arrest before being herded out of
the mall and into security vehicles, which escorted them to their own cars.

Although I do not find Peace on Earth to be offensive the Mall's owners do
seem to object. And it is their legal right to ask the people to leave, If
they don't then trespassing laws would apply.
