I don't know if the Brother is the same as the Epson drivers, but the only
way to get a higher dpi available with them is if you make sure you have the
correct type of paer in the printer and selected in the driver.
If for instance the paper type is set to 300DPI plain paper, you obviously
should be using more than 300DPI. If however you have installed high quality
Photo glossy paper or film, then you can select (in the case of the Epson)
up to 2880 DPI.
