Well, to elaborate on it. eCS1.1 had a bug, and that bug triggered an 
undue "your byond the 1024 cylinder bounderey" error message at some 
systems.
It could well be that bug has put an irregularity onto your system too; 
the irregularity didn't you prevent to boot as it did on others eCS1.1 
systems, but nevertheless it could well be stiil there, preventing you 
from normal a boot.

Now, in eCS1.2 that bug has been fixed. So, if the bug was (hence still 
is) on your systems, it is mandatory to wipe it out of course.

In order to do so, at the initial install go to the lvm window, set 
everything _again_, even if will be exactly the same afterward, and then 
EXIT AND SAVE, even though it looks like nothing has changed.

It's worth a try as it costs nothing at all.
