Many freshwater fish like a little salt and most can live just fine with

Some mollies and a few other, what we call fresh water fish, will
eventually die with out salt. Then again some fish will die, when enough
salt is used, even though the other fish in the tank won't mind it at
all.
When using salt, you have to know your fish and what amounts of salt, if
any, they can live with.
