Any idea what they are planning for cold weather starting? I have read
articles that suggest you preheat your standard aircraft engine anytime the
temperature is below freezing. We certaininly didn't do that around here
when I was flying - you preheated when it wouldn't start.
When I was on the farm (and my first years in the city) you fully expected
your engines in cars and tractors to start at 40 below. The diesel tractors
that showed up from time to time were not popular in the winter. Even with
oversized batteries and things like heater plugs in each cylinder, they did
not like the cold. Aircraft engines certainly needed some heat at those
temps.
