No, wrong. Postscript requires an additional piece of hardware (=chip).
And matching software of course.
To put it more limpid (or easy if you like), Big Blue provides
(provided?) two packages for laser system printers:

1. laserjeten.exe

You'll find just one Lexmark laser printer there (Lexmark WinWriter
600). Because that is (or was till the recent past) about the only non
postscript Lexmark.

2. pscripten.exe

In there are about all the Lexmarks, coz Lexmark lasers are about all
Postscript printers (meaning inbuild is that additional piece of hardware).

Some HP Laserjets can be upgraded to Postscript (by installing that
additional piece of hardware), and if you do so, then you have to
install "pscripten.exe" in order to get things fully working.

Also, to make it even more complicated, some HP inkets are driven by the
HP Laserjet engine. Meaning, you have to install laserjet.exe instead of
omni.exe. And also, these inkjet printers can be upgrade by a postscript
module. And then again you have to install them by means op pscripten.exe.

The "additional piece of hardware" can be emulated too. iirc Ghostscript
does something like that (not sure though).

Anyway, you won't hear me telling it's easy and straightforward.

Simple human beings as we more and more get into hot water.
