subject: New busy signal trouble

ib> Previously, when I connected to a busy line, the signal was just
ib> an intermittent busy signal tone, and the modem would hang up
ib> immediately to redial. Now there is a voice message
ib> superimposed over the intermittent busy tone. It now takes my
ib> modem about 20 seconds to figure out that the line is busy,
ib> before hanging up. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to set
ib> either the initialization string or Telix settings, so that the
ib> modem will recognize immediately that the line is busy, under
ib> this new type of busy signal, and hang up. If you know how,
ib> please inform me.
The modem detects the busy signal, not Telix. The "fix" is, I
believe, *02 (pick up your phone, and at the dial tone hit *02).
That disables the voice message. You only have to do that _once_ and
that little annoying feature is gone forever.
