Actually, as far as I know, he's possessed the "power cosmic" TWICE,
once by draining it from the Surfer and once by somehow tricking the
Beyonder out of it. That LATTER incident somehow made him beneficent and
tranquil. This incident was also in the gawdawfully drawn "Secret Wars"
series, what was rather nicely written.....
