You do not add the serial keyword to the binkley.lng file, but rather to
the binkley.cfg file. The parameter value for the serial keyword is a
decimal integer, and the one I use is seven digits, and its effect is to
remove the unregistered display. I am told that a sigle digit behind the
serail keyword will also work.
