Exactlymundo - that's what I have been saying all along. If the US had been
active (not active in the sense of a military attack, but for example by
providing resources) all this time, this whole business would not have
escalated to this mess that it is now.

The US has the largest debt to the UN (at least had a few years ago - I
don't know the numbers today). That certainly is not helping the UN in any
way.
