| subject: | WOL - how? |
JP> This is one of my problems too, I have been unable to "Wakeup on JP> LAN" on any of my machines. What Magic post has to be sent ?.. I forgot to mention.. once the machine is on do not turn it off with the power switch. Some cards require a flag to be set which only happens when the operating system is allowed to power down the machine. A handy hint is, if the machine is off and the light on your hub is not on then the computer does not have the standby power for the card enabled. Without this the computer cannot receive a WoL command. You also need to designate the remote pc's MAC address. There is a handy tool that promises to simplify the process: This site promises some WOL solutions: http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/wake-on-lan-cmd.aspx There is a GUI version of the command-line program above: http://www.depicus.com/wake-on-lan/wake-on-lan-gui.aspx --- Thunderbird 2.0.0.24 (Windows/20100228)* Origin: Fidonet Via Newsreader - http://www.easternstar.info (1:123/789.0) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 550 620 848 953 @PATH: 123/789 500 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
