     I'm using 2.8 and simply binding a key to PasteFromWinClip() works
     fine without all the code you've given - it's binding that key to my
     macro that fails.

pasting windows clipboard into prompts can be done already.

here's a quick sample of how to do it. save the snippet below as some
.S file, compile it, and put it in your autoload list. press
to paste from the windows clipboard. you can change the key to
something else, if you prefer.

---snip---

keydef PasteKeys
    PasteFromWinClip()
end
proc OnPromptStartup()
    Enable(PasteKeys)
end
proc WhenLoaded()
    Hook(_PROMPT_STARTUP_, OnPromptStartup)
end

---snip---
